The explorer Christopher Columbus was born Italy in the fifteenth century. He lived in Spain for some time and made many sea voyages. He was always interested in India. He knew that it was possible to sail east and bring back a lot of gold. At the same time, people in those days knew that the planet was round. So his idea was to sail west and reach India. He didn’t know that there was a continent on his way to India. He sailed west and arrived in Central America. That was how he discovered the new continent.
