Reading books is one of the ways of receiving information. Books can be different genres:classic, prose,poetry,scientific literature, fairy tales and mane others.
From childhood we have been taught reading books is needed. On the one hand, you can improve your vocabulary and learn many interesting things, and on the other hand there are a lot of other sources of receiving information.
I consider, books is good, but not needed. It isn’t the only source of self-development.
To sum up, I can say reading books is good bet isn’t necessary
